Epic Records began in 1953 as a label for popular music outside Columbia's jazz and classical catalog and now operates within Sony Music Entertainment. It has released artists across pop, rock, R&B, and hip-hop. Its catalog includes Michael Jackson's Thriller and Bad, Sade's Diamond Life, and Outkast's Speakerboxxx/The Love Below.
